We are partnering with researchers and corporations nationwide to promote and develop new tools for increasing users’ awareness of credibility issues. Below are a few of our current partner projects.

Credibility Analysis of Weblogs. We are working with Elizabeth Liddy and Victoria Rubin to design and develop a natural language processing system to evaluate the projected credibility of weblogs. This system will analyze bloggers’ writing and links to assess the author’s values, bias and trustworthiness.

Phishing Detection through Logo Recognition. We are collaborating with Michael Toomim at the University of Washington to develop a system that can identify “phishing” sites by visually analyzing page design and displayed logos. Web sites that attempt to use an organization’s logo without authorization or that attempt to mimic an organization’s design can be flagged and displayed in the browser with a warning message.

HealthNavigator. HealthNavigator is a search engine for health information that provides automated credibility assessments of search results. HealthNavigator was initially developed as a student project by two undergraduate students at the Information School, Grace Preyapongpisan and Amy Lacenski. The Credibility Commons project team will manage future development of HealthNavigator.
